Tecoma Strategies will be presenting a series of three one-day workshops for the GSSA; Brownfields Exploration, Decision Analysis for Mining Investments and Economic Analysis in Minerals. Each workshop is designed to be standalone but complement each other. The workshops are interactive, with delegate participation and feedback encouraged throughout the days. Guest presenters will be announced closer to the event.

Brownfields Exploration (2 March 2018)

With the upward turn in the global minerals commodities industry, the attention has shifted away from productivity and efficiency, and back towards industry growth. Under-investment in exploration and project development during the commodity price and demand downturn has left a global shortage of suitable exploration targets and development projects. This situation has been particularly exacerbated in South Africa, with the political developments. This workshop will examine the role of brownfields exploration as a key enabler of the future growth in mineral development and extraction, and the metrics used to help drive and manage an exploration programme. Practical examples will be drawn from Matt’s extensive global experience, and from a number of commodities.

Decision Analysis for Mining Investments (13 April 2018)

Globally, mineral projects are gaining momentum, as the industry shifts gears to concentrate on growth. This Workshop will examine the design and implementation of a successful Minerals project, from exploration to the final feasibility study. Particular attention will be paid to the phases of the project pipeline, to project success factors, and to the role of biases in project successes and failures. Case studies will be presented and discussed, and there will be a practical hands-on application.
